Monday night he complained of severe dizziness, etc. He thought it was just
a bad case of vertigo, which he has a history of. Late in the night his right
arm and right side of face went numb and he lay in throw up, unable to get up.
He told my mom to call 911. When the paramedics came, they were pretty
nonchalant about everything, just standing around him and saying things like,
"Well we could take you to the hospital, or you could just stay
here."
When they got to the hospital they did an MRI and when they saw nothing,
they sent him home with some nausea medication and told my mom if he didn't get
better in a day or so, to make it a point to see a neurologist. He fell into
the car, something still obviously wrong.
Tuesday he spent asleep in bed due to the medications. Wednesday was
rougher. Wednesday night, when my mom noticed his speech slurring, she called
the hospital and once again they were not too concerned, saying they guessed
she could bring him back if she wanted... She waited a bit. Things were getting
worse. She called again but they seemed somewhat annoyed. She had said a prayer
asking that if there was something she needed to do, let her know.
At about 1:30 am she had the impression to call Brother Snyder from our ward
who is a neurologist. He said to take him to the hospital, it sounded like he
was having a stroke. Just then, Adam came through the door and was able to help
my mom get him into the car. Just as they were about to leave, Brother Snyder
called and told them not to go back to Timpanogas Hospital, but to Utah Valley
Hospital.
When they got there, the staff and vibe was much better. They did a CT scan
and found a blot clot which was affecting his cerebellum. My about 8 am they
were taking him to surgery where they had to take out a chunk of the cerebellum.
The surgeon he had was highly skilled and many of the staff said, one of the
best. Obviously that was a blessing.
They said that if he hadn't been taken to a hospital, in another 6-8 hours,
he would have been dead.
When he came to he was confused and didn't remember what happened. He received a blessing from Jared, the bishop, and some friends from our ward.
It was a rough day.
Wow. SO grateful for prayers answered! Heavenly Father is surely looking out for you guys. Love you!
